Background

I am licensed and board-certified in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry and join Serenity Mental Health Center’s clinical team as a seasoned psychiatrist with twelve years experience. After earning my medical degree at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2009, I then completed my residency in the University of Florida College of Medicine Psychiatry. Previous to joining Serenity, I gained valuable clinical experience at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center and North Florida Regional Medical Center.

My Care Philosophy

I believe that in healthcare, the patient should always be the first priority. This means that the provider’s role is to first listen to the patient and then use their expertise and experience to collaborate with the patient. This plan should be tailored to each patient’s unique situation and needs, allowing them to pursue their goals and ambitions and ultimately enable them to achieve their highest potential.

Why I Chose Mental Health

I chose to pursue a career in mental healthcare because I truly believe that every person during the course of their life struggles at some point with mental health issues. Grief, loss, anxiety, and despair are all natural parts of life, but so are love, joy and achievement. Being a mental healthcare provider means getting in touch with what connects us as human beings, and being in a position to help those who have lost balance in their lives due to depression and other mental health conditions makes it uniquely rewarding among medical fields.

Why I Joined Serenity

I am thrilled to join Serenity and be able to provide effective, state-of-the-art treatments for depression, OCD, and other disabling disorders. I’m particularly excited to be able to treat those who feel that no psychiatric treatment can help them and watch them find hope and happiness again.

Interests & Activities

Before going to medical school, I got my bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy biking and rowing- although I am a novice at rowing compared to my wife, who is a national-championship-winning rowing coach.
