My Care Philosophy
I approach psychiatry with an integrative and collaborative care philosophy and believe that in order to achieve true healing, you have to treat the whole person. I seek to determine the root cause rather than simply managing symptoms. I think it is important to have a wide-ranging toolkit from traditional medication management, to new therapies such as TMS and ketamine, and even integrative practices such as mindfulness. I have found in my own life that having a healthy body allows the mind to thrive better, and advocate for physical health strategies like nutrition, exercise, bodywork, and pain reduction.
Why I Chose Mental Health
As a lifelong learner, I have been interested in mental health and medicine since I took my first psychology and biology classes. I am fascinated by the mind-body relationship. Mental health is so important for overall health, and mental illness is more common than many people realize. I am passionate about reducing the stigma around it. I also love connecting with people, and in the mental health field, there is ample opportunity to do so. I am grateful for the trust that patients have in me to help them through the challenges of life.
I joined Serenity because they are committed to delivering the best possible care for patients. I am excited to be involved with an organization that blends new evidence-based treatment strategies such as TMS and ketamine therapy with traditional psychiatric medication management. It feels great to be part of a strong team of compassionate providers and clinic staff that are truly helping patients take back their lives from mental illness.
Interests & Activities
In my spare time, I love to get out into nature, and I go hiking and backpacking often with my fiancée and my dog. I also enjoy reading, traveling, meditating, playing guitar, and spending time with my family.

Daniel Plastino is a great psychiatrist! I have had a very good experience with him so far. He has taken his time to explain to me risk/outcomes/pros/cons and has walked me through everything this whole process. He is straightforward but very nice. I trust him.
Felt acknowledged, genuinely listened to, and Daniel Plastino is clearly both knowledgeable and caring. All of the front desk and other staff have also been a pleasure to interact with. So far everything is five star. Update - October: After some careful exploration of treatment options with Daniel's helpful guidance, I have been pleasantly surprised to find a medication that actually works, in practical, real world contexts. In combination with meditation, working with sleep patterns for example, and some other practices, I feel more 'normal' than I have in years. I wasn't expecting such a clear and substantive positive outcome, so relatively quickly. It's early in treatment, but I have to say that I am immensely appreciative and surprised. One negative however should be mentioned - the protocols and procedures in place at Serenity that need attention with regard to prescriptions. I have had to wait nearly a month for a prescription for an easily available medication and that's not indicative of good practice in this area. The front desk/admin staff involved in this process are doing more than should be nessessary to work through and get things done. Please streamline the process and for God's sake, pay the admin staff better and hire someone to help if they continue to be so overworked at times. All that I've met have been professional and personable, and I do hope are treated as the assets (and pleasant individuals) that they are. Thank you. 🙏
My experience here has always been nothing but positive. Jennifer Madu NP has been truly an angel. Felt safe and understood to share with her how I’ve been feeling and I look forward to continuing my care with such wonderful staff.
This place rocks! The support staff are very friendly and helpful. Everyone had a smile. My NP is passionate about helping me, friendly and actually listens to me, takes my ideas about my care into consideration and integrates them onto our plan. Highly recommended.
