Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Winnie Muriuki, DNP, APRN, PMHNP brings a calm, grounded presence and a genuine curiosity about the people she cares for, meeting each patient exactly where they are.
Education and Background
Winnie earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Missouri–St. Louis, where her passion for understanding the mind and its impact on overall health took root. From there, she built her clinical foundation across some of the most demanding psychiatric environments in the field, including state psychiatric facilities and specialized eating disorder treatment centers. Those early experiences exposed her to a wide spectrum of mental health conditions and gave her a compassion for patients navigating some of the most difficult chapters of their lives.
Care Philosophy
Winnie’s approach is guided by empathy, respect, and a firm belief that no two patients are alike. She draws on evidence-based practices to build individualized treatment plans, while always keeping the person, not the diagnosis, at the center of care. She is fully present in every session, listening closely, asking thoughtful follow-up questions, and giving patients the time they need to express themselves without judgment.
Personal Interests
Outside the clinic, Winnie enjoys exploring the Phoenix area’s local farmers’ markets, a weekly ritual where she loves the fresh food, the community’s energy, and the simple pleasure of discovering something new. At home, she shares her space with Layla, her Shih Tzu, who keeps life warm and a little unpredictable.
What to Expect
From your very first session, you can expect a welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where your concerns are taken seriously. Winnie’s goal is to make sure you feel comfortable, understood, and supported as you begin building a treatment plan together. She is committed to working collaboratively with each patient, helping you build confidence in your care and make meaningful progress toward the life you want to be living.
