Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Shurida Virani, PMHNP, is dedicated to helping patients achieve lasting emotional wellness through compassionate, evidence-based care. With more than a decade of nursing experience, she believes healing begins with trust, understanding, and treating the whole person, not just a diagnosis.
Education and Background
Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and raised in Dallas, Texas, Shurida brings a warm, culturally aware perspective to patient care. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington before completing graduate education at Walden University and later earning her post-master’s certification as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
Before becoming a psychiatric provider, Shurida spent ten years as a registered nurse caring for patients in high-acuity healthcare settings, where she managed both medical and psychiatric emergencies. Those experiences inspired her to pursue psychiatric mental health, combining her passion for medicine with helping individuals achieve lasting emotional wellness.
In addition to being board certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Shurida is also double board certified as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNPC-AG) and previously earned her Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification through the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.
She has a special interest in evidence-based psychiatric treatments, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), to help patients achieve lasting improvement and enhance their quality of life.
Care Philosophy
Shurida believes exceptional mental health care begins with listening. She understands that every patient has a unique story, and her approach is compassionate, collaborative, and judgment-free. By taking the time to understand each patient’s experiences, goals, and overall well-being, she develops individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that empower patients to achieve meaningful, lasting change. Her unique experience in both psychiatric and acute care allows her to recognize the important connection between physical and mental health, providing patients with a comprehensive, well-rounded approach to care.
Personal Interests
Outside of work, Shurida enjoys spending time with her husband, watching soccer, traveling, exploring new cuisines, and spending time with their four fur babies. She is passionate about medicine, nursing, and research and believes in paying it forward by mentoring nurses, nurse practitioner students, and medical students, including her younger sister, who is currently attending medical school. A lifelong animal lover, Shurida enjoys volunteering with animal organizations and is passionate about wildlife conservation and preserving natural habitats, believing that compassion extends beyond caring for people to caring for all living things.

Your first visit is focused on getting to know you, your concerns, goals, and story. Shurida provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) while creating personalized treatment plans for anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, OCD, panic disorder, insomnia, and other mood disorders.
