About Nia I. Anderson, PMHNP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Nia I. Anderson’s, PMHNP, path to psychiatric care was shaped by years of working in some of the most demanding clinical environments in medicine. Today, she brings that depth of experience, along with genuine compassion and a whole-person approach, to every patient she sees.

Education and background

Nia earned her nursing degree from Tuskegee University and began her career in high-acuity medical settings, including cardiology, surgical trauma, neuro ICU, and cardiac ICU. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served as a critical bridge between patients and their families at a time when connection felt impossible. That experience deepened her passion for mental health and inspired her transition to psychiatric care, where she could address the emotional and psychological needs she had witnessed so closely at the bedside.

Care philosophy

Nia provides personalized, compassionate care for individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health conditions. Her approach is holistic, empathetic, and rooted in the belief that healing happens when patients feel safe, heard, and respected. She is dedicated to treating the whole person, not just symptoms, while honoring each individual’s goals, values, and lived experience.

She takes the time to build genuine trust with each patient and works collaboratively to develop thoughtful, evidence-based treatment plans that support lasting relief and renewed well-being.

Personal interests

Outside of the clinic, Nia enjoys music, trying new TikTok recipes, spending time with loved ones, and traveling, especially to relaxing beach destinations. She finds that making time for joy and rest helps her bring her best self to the care she provides every day.

What to expect

In sessions with Nia, patients can expect a provider who is warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in their progress. She creates a space where you can share openly and feel confident that your care plan reflects who you are and where you want to go.
