Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Jennifer Zeer, PMHNP, brings a unique perspective to mental health care, shaped by nearly three decades of caring for women through some of life’s most transformative moments.
Education and Background
Jennifer earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada in 1996, beginning her career as a labor and delivery nurse. Her dedication to comprehensive patient care led her back to school in 2008, where she earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and completed a postgraduate Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner program from the University of Cincinnati. Most recently, she completed her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner postgraduate degree from New Mexico State University. This extensive education gives her unique expertise in women’s hormones, pregnancy, postpartum care, and how these factors intersect with mental health. For five years, she also served on medical missions in Fiji, providing well-woman care and education to underserved communities.
Care Philosophy
Jennifer’s philosophy centers on treating the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. Her job is to listen to your story, understand your world, and present all available options for your lifestyle, sleep, beliefs, and overall wellbeing. Then, you get to choose what feels right for you. We’re a team, and this is something we need to come up with together, she explains. While her background in women’s health gives her unique insight into hormonal changes related to menstrual cycles, pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding, she provides compassionate, comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds and life stages.
Personal Interests
Jennifer calls Elk Ridge home with her husband and two wonderful adult stepdaughters. Their household is full of life with three cats, a tortoise, and a goldendoodle. After years of solo adventures, Jennifer is now enjoying married life, going on cruises, and traveling with her partner. Growing up surrounded by the mountains of Alberta, she treasures living near the Utah mountains again. She loves the diverse cultures and international food options the valley offers, and she brings her signature Canadian kindness and sense of humor to everything she does.
What to Expect
In sessions with Jennifer, patients can expect warmth, validation, and zero judgment. She doesn’t care who you are or where you came from; everyone will be heard and validated, she emphasizes. Her approach is deeply collaborative, treating mental health care as a team effort where patients are active participants in their healing. She welcomes everyone with the same open heart and an infectious sense of humor. Her patients love her, and the feeling is mutual; she genuinely values each of them and approaches her work with heartfelt compassion.
