Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
With over 13 years of experience in labor and delivery, Erica Canterbury, PMHNP-BC, brings a compassionate, trauma-informed perspective to mental health care that few providers can offer. Her deep roots in women’s health and crisis care taught her what it means to be present for people during some of the most intense and vulnerable moments of their lives, and that foundation shapes every patient interaction she has today.
Education and background
Erica earned her nursing degree from Chamberlain University and holds national certification through the ANCC. Her clinical background includes over a decade in labor and delivery, along with advanced certifications in inpatient obstetrics, neonatal resuscitation, and fetal monitoring. That extensive experience in high-acuity, women’s health settings gave her a firsthand understanding of how deeply physical and emotional health are connected, and it ultimately drew her to psychiatric care where she could make that connection her full focus.
Care philosophy
Erica offers holistic, evidence-based treatment for a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and more. Her clinical approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and a genuine passion for helping others heal. She takes the time to understand each patient’s unique experience and works alongside them to build a care plan that is thoughtful, personalized, and designed for lasting progress.
At Serenity, Erica is known for creating a safe, welcoming space where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Whether someone is navigating trauma, managing a new diagnosis, or seeking support for ongoing mental health concerns, she meets them where they are with warmth and clinical expertise.
Personal interests
Outside of the clinic, Erica enjoys crafting, gardening, and spending time outdoors with her family. Her faith is central to her life and practice, guiding her to serve others with joy, grace, and compassion. That sense of purpose and groundedness is something her patients experience in every visit.
What to expect
In sessions with Erica, patients can expect a provider who truly listens and creates a caring, judgment-free space where healing can begin. She brings both deep clinical experience and genuine warmth to every conversation, and she is committed to helping each patient feel confident and supported on their journey.
