Dr. Elise Griffin brings both professional expertise and deep personal understanding to her work in mental health care. Growing up in a family affected by mental health challenges, she didn’t always recognize what she was witnessing, but those experiences ignited a fascination with understanding why we think, feel, and act the way we do. That curiosity, combined with her own journey, led her to psychiatry, where she discovered her true calling. Her personal history gives her a unique ability to recognize patterns others might miss and connect with patients on a meaningful level.
Originally from Oklahoma, Dr. Griffin was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Tulsa. She earned her undergraduate degree from Langston University before attending Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. After completing residency, Dr. Griffin settled in Frisco, Texas. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and remains committed to community service through her involvement with One Community Church.
Dr. Griffin’s philosophy is built on collaboration. She believes everyone needs a therapist, whether they’re seeing a psychiatrist or not, and she integrates that belief into comprehensive treatment plans. Her commitment is to ensure patients feel genuinely cared for and empowered in their healing journey.
Dr. Griffin lives in Frisco with her husband, their four-year-old son, and two beloved small dogs (both under 7 lbs but full of personality). She’s also been a mother figure to her stepdaughter for the past ten years, a role she treasures deeply. An avid traveler at heart, Dr. Griffin dreams of exploring the Seychelles Islands off the coast of Africa and embarking on a European tour. When she’s not working or spending time with family, she enjoys exploring the incredible variety of restaurants and entertainment options that Frisco has to offer.
In sessions with Dr. Griffin, patients can expect a laid-back, judgment-free atmosphere where laughter and healing go hand in hand. “I’m silly. I like to crack jokes,” she shares. She’s had patients tell her they haven’t laughed in years, only to find themselves cackling during their appointment. Dr. Griffin believes in being thorough about explaining her clinical decisions, ensuring patients understand not just what treatment they’re receiving, but why. She takes an honest, transparent approach, making sure patients feel truly cared for rather than simply processed through the system.
