Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Duandelyn Wilson, DNP, PMHNP-C, FNP-C, NNP-BC brings a lifetime of lived experience, a richly layered clinical background, and a deep commitment to the kind of care that changes lives.
Education and Background
Duandelyn earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, magna cum laude, from the University of New Mexico, before completing a Master of Science in Nursing with honors at Regis University in Denver, where she trained as a neonatal nurse practitioner. She went on to earn a post-master’s Family Nurse Practitioner certificate from the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Washburn University, adding a post-master PMHNP certification along the way. That progression, from the earliest days of life in the neonatal unit to the full complexity of adult mental health care, has given her a perspective on human wellbeing that is genuinely rare.
Care Philosophy
Working across high-stress and specialized settings, Duandelyn saw repeatedly how often mental health needs go unaddressed, and how profoundly that gap affects everything else. The pandemic deepened that conviction and brought her focus squarely to psychiatric care. Her approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and shared decision making, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed practice and openness to non-mainstream modalities when the situation calls for it. She listens first, communicates clearly, and builds individualized plans that are practical and rooted in each patient’s own goals.
Personal Interests
Duandelyn is a military veteran, a mom, and someone who knows firsthand what it means to navigate life across many different chapters. Outside the clinic, she is fully embracing Colorado: waterfall hikes, the Manitou Incline, stand-up paddleboarding, and soaking in a hot spring after a long week. She cheers loudly at her children’s track and field meets, loves a good live performance (theater, concerts, comedy), and volunteers at her church twice a month. She also makes time for travel and for her dog, who rounds out a household that is never short on energy.
What to Expect
Duandelyn will take the time to listen carefully, align on your goals, and begin building a clear, collaborative plan together. As a veteran, a parent, and a clinician who has worked with patients across the entire lifespan and from all walks of life, she has a particular gift for making people feel genuinely understood. Patients can expect directness, warmth, and a partner who is fully invested in helping them move forward.
