Dr. Wajid Hussain brings a global perspective to mental health care, shaped by experiences across continents, cultures, and countless patient encounters. Born in Pakistan and having lived through vastly different socioeconomic and cultural settings throughout his life, Dr. Hussain developed a deep fascination with human behavior, psychology, and the neuroscience behind why we think and act the way we do. His journey into psychiatry emerged during his final years of medical school as he explored the intersection of philosophy, neuroscience, and human experience. This diverse background gives him a unique ability to understand and connect with patients from all walks of life, whether they come from religious or secular backgrounds or different cultural traditions.

Education and Background

Dr. Hussain completed his medical education in Pakistan before moving to the United States to pursue his residency at Rutgers University in New Jersey. He then spent nearly a decade working in inpatient psychiatric settings in Illinois, gaining extensive experience with complex mental health conditions and acute care. His 10 years of working allowed him to travel to 45 out of 50 states. This combination of international roots and extensive U.S. experience has given him insight into how culture, environment, and individual circumstances shape mental health.

Whether it’s hiking through national parks or driving to Utah to see the arches and Zion, he’s always eager to discover new places with his family. He believes the best family time is spent exploring together with his daughters and son. An avid sports enthusiast, Dr. Hussain plays both cricket and pickleball, watches a variety of sports, and enjoys TV shows and documentaries.
