About Dr. Talmage Nielsen, DO

Psychiatrist

Dr. Talmage Nielsen, DO, offers compassionate, personalized care and creates a space where every patient feels safe, heard, and empowered to move forward.

Education and Background

Dr. Nielsen earned his medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Southern Utah. He went on to serve as Chief Psychiatry Resident for two years at Crozer Medical Center in Pennsylvania, where he treated underserved populations until the hospital’s closure. He then completed his residency at Main Line Health. His experience caring for communities with limited access to mental health resources gave him a deep appreciation for the difference that accessible, high-quality psychiatric care can make in people’s lives.

Care Philosophy

Dr. Nielsen believes in working collaboratively with each patient, combining active listening with evidence-based treatments to support meaningful, long-term healing. He takes the time to understand each person’s unique concerns and builds treatment plans that reflect their individual needs and goals. His approach is grounded in the belief that when patients feel truly heard and respected, real progress becomes possible.

He is committed to delivering exceptional psychiatric care and is proud to be part of the Serenity team, where he can offer patients access to a full range of treatment options in a supportive, stigma-free environment.

Personal Interests

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Nielsen enjoys spending time with his wife and their two pets, a German Shepherd and a cat. He’s passionate about the outdoors and often spends his free time working on landscaping projects or enjoying Colorado’s natural beauty. That connection to nature and home life keeps him grounded and energized for the care he provides every day.

What to Expect

In sessions with Dr. Nielsen, patients can expect a provider who listens actively, communicates openly, and is genuinely committed to their progress. He creates a welcoming space where you can share freely and feel confident that your care plan is built around your unique needs.
