Psychiatrist
Dr. Alex Chung, MD’s, decision to pursue psychiatry was shaped by personal experiences with mental illness in his own family, giving him a perspective that goes beyond clinical training. He understands what it feels like to watch someone you love struggle, and that understanding fuels his passion for reducing stigma, building trust, and providing the kind of care that helps people feel truly seen.
Education and background
Dr. Chung earned his medical degree from the Long School of Medicine in San Antonio and completed his psychiatry residency at UT Health San Antonio. His training included work in Level I trauma centers and a major VA hospital, giving him deep clinical experience with diverse patient populations and complex psychiatric presentations. That foundation allows him to bring both confidence and compassion to even the most challenging cases.
Care philosophy
Dr. Chung provides compassionate, evidence-based care for depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other mental health conditions. Personal interests
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Chung enjoys spending time with his wife, their young son, and their senior dog. As a family, they love discovering local spots, especially those that involve water adventures, a favorite activity for their toddler. That sense of joy, curiosity, and connection is something he carries into the care he provides every day.
