Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Dallas Martell, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC came to mental health through years of service, first as an Army nurse and then at the bedside of critically injured patients in the trauma ICU. Those experiences gave him a firsthand understanding of how trauma shapes the mind. Today, he brings that perspective, along with genuine compassion and a commitment to individualized care, to every patient he sees at Serenity.
Education and Background
Dallas earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Sacramento, and his Doctor of Nursing Practice from Arizona State University. Before transitioning into mental health, he served as a nurse in the United States Army for over 14 years, spending much of that time in the trauma ICU. It was there, caring for service members and their families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives, that he saw just how deeply physical trauma and mental health are connected. That realization became the turning point that led him to pursue psychiatric care as his calling.
Care Philosophy
Dallas takes the time to understand each patient’s unique concerns, treating every person as an individual. His approach goes beyond clinical care alone, often incorporating holistic techniques like mindfulness, deep breathing exercises, and yoga to support the whole person. He believes the best outcomes come from working together, building a personalized plan that honors where you are and helps you move forward with confidence.
Personal Interests
When he’s not caring for patients, you’ll likely find Dallas on the golf course, his personal happy place. He’s also a fan of country music and enjoys unwinding with Marvel movies. He believes that rest and joy are essential parts of wellness, for his patients and for himself.
What to Expect
In sessions with Dallas, patients can expect to feel welcomed and heard by someone who truly understands the weight of what they’re carrying. He brings both deep clinical expertise and genuine warmth to every visit, creating a space where you can share openly and feel confident in the care you’re receiving.
