Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
With extensive experience spanning medical-surgical nursing, occupational health, long-term care, and psychiatric hospitals, Chandler Fernandez, PMHNP-BC, discovered a common thread across every setting she worked in: mental well-being was always at the center of a patient’s ability to heal. That realization drew her to psychiatric care, where she could make that connection her full focus.
Education and background
Chandler earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ferris State University and her Master of Science in Nursing from Davenport University. Her clinical background includes work in medical-surgical nursing, occupational health, long-term care, and psychiatric hospitals. Whether she was supporting patients through physical recovery, addressing workplace stress, or providing compassionate care in inpatient psychiatric settings, she consistently saw how deeply mental health shapes every aspect of a person’s well-being. That breadth of experience gives her a uniquely well-rounded perspective in her psychiatric practice today.
Care philosophy
At Serenity, Chandler provides evidence-based treatment for depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. She works collaboratively with each patient to create personalized care plans that reflect their goals and values. Her practice emphasizes empowerment, resilience-building, and empathetic communication, helping patients feel confident and supported at every step of their journey.
She takes the time to listen, to understand what each person is going through, and to build a plan that addresses their unique needs. Chandler believes that lasting mental wellness comes from feeling truly seen and empowered, and she brings that philosophy to every patient interaction.
Personal interests
Outside of the clinic, Chandler enjoys exploring new cuisines, spending time outdoors, and connecting with nature through hiking and walking. She has a lifelong love of the ocean and finds peace in visiting aquariums or spending time near the water. That sense of calm and curiosity is something her patients experience in every visit.
What to expect
In sessions with Chandler, patients can expect a provider who is empathetic, attentive, and genuinely committed to their growth. She creates a welcoming space where you can share openly and feel confident that your care plan is built around who you are and what you’re working toward.
