Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
With a background that spans Army service, police work, and a decade as a trauma ER nurse, Chad Bingham, PMHNP, brings a steady, solution-focused presence to mental health care. He never loses sight of who is at the end of every treatment decision: a person, someone's son, daughter, mother, or father.
Education and Background
Chad earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington and spent 10 years as a trauma ER nurse before moving into hospital management. He then answered the call to serve in mental health, earning his Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner training at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.
His path into psychiatry started in the ER. Many of his patients there had mental health backgrounds, and he came to see that much of his work was helping people through emotional as well as physical distress. He saw that the difference between crisis and stability often came down to access, a real relationship with a provider, and patients understanding their own care. That led him to keep serving those patients in a different way.
Care Philosophy
Chad's care is guided by honor, integrity, and transparency, and by a commitment to evidence-based practice. He has a competitive, solution-based personality: he recognizes problems, but he focuses on solutions. As an Army veteran, a Texas police officer, and an ER nurse, he spent years finding person-centered ways to resolve crises, restore stability, and maintain dignity for everyone involved. He makes sure patients feel heard through active listening and by aligning their treatment with their own goals, and he knows the value of being trusted with someone's care.
Personal Interests
Chad enjoys everything the Dallas-Fort Worth area has to offer, from its dining to its sports and recreation. Most of his hobbies are built on endurance and self-reliance, from local races to full Ironman competitions and hiking the Grand Canyon rim to rim. He finds joy and accomplishment in staying the course and continuing toward the objective.
What to Expect
In sessions with Chad, patients can expect a provider whose first goal is to connect with you. He listens to your story, works with you on treatment goals that matter to you, and treats you as an active partner in your care from the very first visit.
