Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Andrea Montes, PMHNP-BC's journey into mental health was shaped by years of working as a critical care nurse, where she cared for patients and their families during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Throughout that time, she saw how deeply emotional well-being impacts physical health, relationships, and quality of life, and how often mental health needs went unaddressed. She felt called to be a provider who not only treats symptoms but truly connects with patients as whole people.
Education and background
Andrea began her career as a critical care nurse and spent many years working in the ICU before transitioning into psychiatric care. She completed her graduate training with a strong focus on evidence-based psychiatric care across the lifespan. That combination of intensive bedside experience and specialized psychiatric training gives her a unique ability to understand the full picture of what her patients are going through, physically, emotionally, and socially.
Care philosophy
Andrea provides expert, patient-centered care for anxiety, OCD, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. She is passionate about integrating medical, psychological, and social factors into treatment, and she believes that healing begins with feeling heard, respected, and understood.
She works closely with each patient to create individualized treatment plans that honor their goals, values, and lived experiences. For Andrea, mental health care is where science, compassion, and meaningful human connection come together, and she brings that sense of purpose to every visit.
Personal interests
Outside of the clinic, Andrea enjoys staying active, spending time with her family, and focusing on her personal growth and wellness. She values routines that support balance, like exercise, journaling, and quiet reflection. She also loves cooking, traveling, and creating meaningful moments with the people she loves.
What to expect
