New hire supports growing demand for psychiatric services in the Salt Lake area

Dr. Anthony Petersen, MD, board-certified psychiatrist, completed his medical degree and psychiatry residency at the University of Utah. A Utah native with deep roots in Emery County, Dr. Petersen studied English Literature at Southern Utah University before pursuing medicine. He discovered his calling for psychiatry during his third year of medical school, where he found mental health to be the specialty in which he could make the most meaningful impact on patients’ lives.
Dr. Petersen keeps treatment plans tailored and specific, prioritizing the lowest risk options whenever possible. Drawing on skills in close reading and careful interpretation from his academic background alongside evidence-based problem-solving from his medical training, he listens differently and thinks about what he hears just as carefully.
