About Andrew Nichols, NP

Andrew Nichols, NP has over 10 years of healthcare experience spanning both military and civilian nursing. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Andrew brings a sense of community to everything he does, and that same grounded, personal care carries into every patient interaction at Serenity.

Education and Background

Andrew earned his advanced practice degree from Texas State University and pursued specialized training in psychiatric mental health care. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, working as a Critical Care and En Route Care Nurse at Naval Hospital Okinawa and with the 3d Medical Battalion.
He joined Serenity drawn by the practice’s commitment to interventional treatments, including TMS and ketamine therapy, that go beyond conventional options to offer patients real, evidence-based paths forward.

Care Philosophy

Andrew approaches each session by staying present and grounded during even the most difficult moments. He meets every patient with understanding rather than judgment, and with care that is guided by clarity, honesty, and a genuine belief that treatment works best as a collaborative process.

What to Expect

In your first visit, Andrew will take time to understand what has been going on and what matters most to you before anything else. From there, you will build a plan together, one that feels manageable and effective. He listens closely and makes sure nothing important gets missed.

Personal Interests

When Andrew is not with patients, you will likely find him at the gym, reading a book, or practicing mindfulness. His greatest joy, though, is time with his kids, including volunteering at their school where he leads science experiments and happily takes on lunchtime duty.

About Katherine Schneider, NP

Katherine Schneider, NP, is a dedicated psychiatric nurse practitioner at Serenity Mental Health Centers in Superior, CO. With a deep commitment to patient care and a passion for mental health advocacy, Katherine believes that healing begins with feeling heard, understood, and supported. Her approach to treatment is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and evidence-based practices tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient.

With an extensive background in psychiatric care, Katherine earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Northern Kentucky University, where she focused on treating mood disorders, schizophrenia, anxiety disorders, ADHD, and substance use disorders across all age groups. She has also gained valuable hands-on experience working in inpatient psychiatric hospitals.

Katherine’s care philosophy is centered around fostering trust, open communication, and a stigma-free approach to mental health. She values empathy, integrity, and respect in every patient interaction, creating a safe space where individuals can feel comfortable discussing their challenges. She believes in optimizing brain health and helping patients reach their full potential through personalized treatment plans, including medication management and holistic care strategies.

Her passion for mental health stems from a desire to make a lasting impact on the lives of those struggling with mental illness. Having witnessed firsthand the challenges many individuals face, she is dedicated to providing support, guidance, and hope to those seeking a path toward healing.

Outside of work, Katherine enjoys reading, traveling, and exploring new experiences with her family. She also shares her life with her beloved dog, Sydney, who brings her endless joy. Music from the ’60s and ’70s holds a special place in her heart, as it reminds her of her childhood and her parents’ love for Fleetwood Mac. She also loves movies that explore thought-provoking themes, with Trading Places being a personal favorite.
